An Introduction to Aboriginal Family Systems For Frontline workers, Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal Professionals

Those who may benefit from this workshop are:
Aboriginal Frontline Workers, Youth Workers, Alcohol & Drug Counsellors, Family Support Workers, Trainers, Teachers, School Personnel, Psychologists , Counselors, Family Therapists, Mental Health Workers, Nurses, Social Workers, and Consultants

Aboriginal families are communal-based and founded in the Circle. The Circle is a system which is centuries old. It is opposite from the Box system that we currently live and work in as frontline workers in communities, or as professionals in a variety of settings. Non-Aboriginal professionals who work within the Aboriginal culture are often at a disadvantage to understand the vast differences in practices & beliefs that operate within the two systems.
Aboriginal families have moved systemically with the changes created when the Circle met the Box. These changes have been traumatic and have impacted families and communities
